Message from the Director
The fourth wave of smart revolution is quickly approaching: Data is being produced at an unprecedented scale and the business environment is changing ever so rapidly. Recently, big data and artificial intelligence have quickly emerged as key elements in leading and addressing the challenges presented in the smart era.
Already, major research institutions around the world are actively engaged in discussions on the socioeconomic effect of big data and artificial intelligence research. Moreover, they possess the potential to solve many of the complex socioeconomic issues present today as they allow us to get behind the fundamental nature of such issues. We now live in an era where companies and countries without competitiveness in big data and artificial intelligence research may face existential uncertainty.
The Big Data Institute was established to foster theoretical, technical, and platform development research in the fields of big data and artificial intelligence, and also to carry out various projects that apply such research results. The Big Data Institute will serve as the central hub that establishes research networks, nurtures multidisciplinary research, promotes cooperative projects with private/public institutions, and provide support for business projects.
